How can I switch off the header message which is in bold? It is very distracting in prime real estate screen space and IMHO not conducive to a clean, non-distracting learning environment.

• Are you talking about the header message on the talk page? Some folk find it distracting while many newbies find this useful in getting to know how to post a thread. Typically our talk pages aren't used as a learning environment, however Leigh has put LQT to good use in his course on Facilitating online learning using this feature in the wiki for teaching purposes --Wayne Mackintosh 02:16, 24 May 2008 (UTC).
  • Thanks for the reply Wayne. I'm talking about the header message which at the moment reads:
    • Join our WikiEducator mailing list or Register now for free skills training.
      We are testing a new collaborative video editing tool — see Help:Collaborative video for more information.
      • Can this be togglable for switching off - its taking up valuable screen real estate. It's one of the reasons that I prefer to use Wikiversity at the moment. -- Jtneill - Talk 00:09, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

          • I had gotten so used to it I had forgotten it was there! It would be great to have the option to dismiss it though. attracting more interaction with the notice, and so increasing the chance of it being noticed and read perhaps --Leighblackall 00:43, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
