John McBride
I work for Mindset Network, South Africa where I coordinate the development of a variety of resources for Schooling. My main interests are in Science and Maths Education.
Academic Biography
I was born on 9 September 1963 in a small town, Vereeniging, South Africa but my family moved to Durban when I was about 9 years old. I completed my primary schooling at Durban Preparatory High School (DPHS) and my high schooling at Durban High School (DHS). I then studied at the University of Natal, Durban where I majored in Chemistry and Mathematics. In also studied Physics for two years. I then went on to study for a Higher Diploma in Education. At the begining of 2008 I registered for a BSc Honours in Science Education at the University of the Witwatersrand,(Wits).
Employment
I taught at the following schools between 1988 and 2004:
- Durban High School
- Kearsney College
- St Charles College
- St Stithians College
In May, 2004 I joined Mindset Network as the Physical Sciences Co-ordinator and I have been responsible for the development of Science content for Grades 10 - 12.

My Family
I am married to Linda. We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on 5th December last year. We have two sons, Andrew (16) and Timothy (13).
