About myself

My name is Jack Wainaina a Kenyan citizen by birth am currently working with an Organization called CISDEP as a Program Manager.The Organization is based in Thika Kenya where we work with the community in areas of food security and environment conservation, CISDEP work with rural communities in the Thika east district of Kenya in order to improve food and livelihood security. CISDEP carry out this work by reviving ecological agriculture practices amongst communities and by encouraging and enabling communities to make the most of crops and resources available locally to them

Professional life

I am a specialist in the field of General Agriculture and Community based micro finance having trained and worked in this field of Community development for over 7 years my work in CISDEP entails day to day running of the Organization and ensuring smooth learning of the Organization. My interests include lecturing and mentoring the youth . I also like undertaking research in the agricultural sector and i have worked with various people and organisation In both the Agricultural and Micro finance.

Community Initiatives for Sustainable Development Project (CISDEP) is a registered non profit organization working with rural communities in the Thika east district of Kenya in order to improve food and livelihood security and information transfer and sharing. CISDEP carry out this work by reviving ecological agricultural practices amongst communities and by encouraging and enabling communities to make the most of crops and resources available locally to them.

Agriculture

The organization works towards empowering rural communities to rediscover themselves; scale up and out positive values of sustainable development. that is based on use of local resources and rich social- cultural heritage, dignity, pride and confidence of the community It puts man man and woman centre, enhances biodiversity and lays strong foundation for the youth and future generations.

Activities

1. Training of farmers on Sustainable Agriculture to address food insecurity in our area of operation and beyond
2. Drug abuse and alcohol
3. Environmental rehabilitation, preservation and conservation. As well as creating awareness on climate change and its effects
4. Train on Farming as a business/ Record keeping/marketing skills.
5. Capacity building on Leadership skills training and group dynamics.
6. Local resources and financial mobilization.
7. Training of farmers on water conservation and efficient water utilization
8. Project monitoring and evaluation
9. Training on gender
