Web 2.0 facilitate information sharing and collaboration online. Many people can share and work together.This "technology" is more social than technological evolution.This makes it very appropriate for wholesome participation by various stakeholders in various issues of development.

There are many online tools to enable this networking, sharing and collaboration. They allow us to create profiles that tell others about us and to find people with common interests or characteristics. Social networking sites are websites that provide the technology for social networking, including profiles, discussions,email,social network visualization tools, and content sharing tools. Some popular examples are Facebook,Hi5Networks, Myspace and LinkedIn.

Social media allows people to publish out to the world via the Internet. No longer are traditional media or big, well-resourced organizations the only ones who are creating and disseminating information. Now you and I can create and publish to the world (more).

We don’t need specialized technical skills either. There are many easy to use content creation and sharing tools on the internet that anyone with an internet connection and a computer can use.
