Research Experience:

Research project has been focused on some special areas of organosilicon chemistry/ inorganic polymers. Project involves the synthesis and characterization of carbosilanes and their subsequent polymerization either by Wurtz coupling or Ti catalyzed dehydrocoupling method as well as chemical modification of preformed polysilanes. The research project also involves studies on conformational/configurational aspects as well as electronic properties of new functional polysilanes.


Analytical skills:

 Working experience with FTIR (Nicolet), UV-Vis (Perkin Elmer), GPC (Waters, Hitachi), HPLC (Waters), TGA, DTA, DSC (Perkin Elmer).  Experienced with the technique for handling air and moisture sensitive materials (Schlenk line).  Chromatographic techniques, purification and recrystallization.  Interpretation of various types of 1D [ 1H, 13C{1H}, DEPT-45, 90 and 135] and 2D [HSQC, HMBC, TOCSY, COSY] NMRspectra.

Computational proficiency:

 Programming in C  Familiarity with MS office, adobe photoshop, coral draw.  Working knowledge of molecular modeling software (Hyperchem 6.0), structure drawing package like Chem. Sketch, Chemdraw and ISIS draw.
