My Profile
I teach mathematics at Albany Senior High School on Auckland's North Shore. I teach Level 1 and Level 2 mathematics (we don't have Level 3 yet) and prefer statistics over calculus.
Professional background
I taught initially in the early-mid nineties in Kaikoura and relief taught in the Bay of Plenty and then travelled extensively through Europe, Africa and Canada. I then returned to university and got an honours degree in law. I practised law for 5 years but the pull of the classroom was too much and I returned to secondary school teaching to take up a position of mathematics teacher at Albany Senior High School - New Zealand's first state senior secondary school.
Education
BSc (mathematics and computers), Dip Tchg, LLB(Hons)
My Interests
Professional
Exploring the use of technology in helping students to gain a better understanding of mathematics. Considering alternative ways of assessing mathematical skills rather than the usual test or exam.
