Professional Background
I joined the Learning Skills Centre in 2008, after completing my PhD study of fossil bird bones at Duke University in North Carolina. I'd previously worked as a graphic designer at EOS Ecology, ran the inaugural Desktop Publishing and Design programme at Whitireia Polytechnic, taught writing and computer skills to immigrants and long-term unemployed, and was an assistant curator at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. I have a blog of data presentation tips for scholars called Pictures of Numbers, and wrote a book on how to play the ukulele.
My Projects
Get Net Savvy is a lunchtime seminar series at the Learning Skills Centre.
