My Profile
Francis Donkor currently works with the Kumasi Campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). He joined the University in November, 1996 as Assistant Lecturer in the then Department of Technology Education (now Department of Design and Technology Education). His status was reviewed to Lecturer in June, 1997 and promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer in April 2004. He holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Astrakhan Technical Institute of Fisheries, Russia. Additionally, he holds a Master of Philosophy degree in Vocational and Technical Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Regarding membership of professional bodies, Francis is an Associate Member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (AMGhIE), a Member of the Ghana Science Association (MGSA) and a member of the University Teachers Association of Ghana. He is also a Member of the Ghana Energy Research Group.
Francis has served on a number of committees and boards. Most importantly, he served two terms on the University Governing Council from July 2003 to March 2007 and was a member of the Academic Board from October 2000 to August 2007. From October 2000 to August 2005, he was a member of the Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology Education Board. He also served as a member of the then Faculty of Technology Education (now Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education) Board for two years (September 2005 - August 2007).
As a lecturer at UEW, Francis has held a number of positions. He was the Departmental Examinations Officer for the Department of Technology Education from October 1998 to September 2000. Francis was the Faculty Examinations Officer for the Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology Education from October 2000 to August 2005. On September 1, 2005, Francis was appointed as the Acting Head of the Department of Technology Education and proceeded on sabbatical leave after two years in office. Currently, he is the coordinator for graduate programmes in the Department of Design and Technology Education.
On September 1, 2007, Francis joined the Secretariat of the President's Special Initiative on Distance Learning, Ghana for a two-year sabbatical leave (September 1, 2007 - August 31, 2009). He served as the Deputy Coordinator in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
