Indians were dissatisfied of the dyarchich system of governance of britishers. British parliament passed the Government of India Act,1935. which was implemented in 1937.Dyarchy came to an end. India was divided in 11 provinces and congress ministry was formed 7 out of these 11 provinces.Gandhiji, advised the provincial governments, in the news paper of aug. 11 ,1937 to shoulder the responsibility of education in the age group 7 to 14 years. On oct. 2 , 1937 Gandhiji wrote in Harijan that the primary education should be of 7 years.Barring english all those subjects should be taught which are taught for the high school examination and any craft or trade should be compulsory. ALL INDIA NATIONAL CONFERENCE , WARDHA The silver jubilee celebration of ‘marwari shiksha mandal’ was to be held on 22-23 oct, 1937 in wardha. Srimannarayan aggarwal was its organizer. Ganhiji suggested him to organize an education conference on this occasion.srimannarayan aggarwal invited the education ministers of all seven congress ministers,the top educationists of the country, thinkers nad national leaders on this occasion and organized an ‘all india national education conference’.it is also called wardha education conference. Addressing the conference Gandhiji presented his educational ideas. He stated seven fundamental facts about primary education out of which five proposals were passed – 1. That Free and compulsory primary education should be organized for all children between 7 to 14 years. 2. That Mother-tongue should be medium of education. 3. That Education should be imparted through handicraft. 4. That Curriculum should be prepared on the basis of needs of children. 5. That Education should be self supporting. The salary of the teachers may be paid out from the production in schools.
