Learning Goals and Procedures

  1. Brainstorm a class list of problems in your city.
  2. Find data that supports your problem.
  3. Narrow the class list of problems based on data.
  4. Examine alternative policies.
  5. Propose new public policy proposal.  Contact experts to interview via Skype and/ or email.
  6. Develope an action plan.
  7. Create and present group portfolio.
  8. Reflect on your learning experience.

Schedule

March 28

  • Introduce learning goals and procedures.
  • Introduce Edmodo rules.
  • Set-up Edmodo accounts.
  • Make a post in Edmodo listing problems in your city with data to support.

March 30

  • Review class list of problems in Edmodo.
  • Add new problems to list, with supporting data.
  • Introduce Wiki, guidelines, purpose, and demonstrate how to use.
  • Set-up Wiki accounts.

April 1

  • Discuss using a Wiki vs. a blog, comparing likes and dislikes for communication for civics.
  • Narrow or add to class brainstorming list in Edmodo. Add additional data to support specific porposals.  Always have data to support posted proposals.   Must have a class consensis to delete any proposal from the list.
