26 SAURAV VATS Name - saurav vats Reg. no. – 11bec0377 COLLEGE LIFE ‘COLLEGE LIFE’ when anybody hears about this word the first few words which comes in mind is fun, joy, friends, lectures, bunking etc.When I first entered the campus of VIT, i had many dreams about the college and my college life.I was instilled with a mixed feeling of of joy, excitement and sadness too as for the very first time I was leaving my home and my family and going to a place so far away from my native place.Initially I felt that I had come to a different world.I met my roommates and started making new friends in VIT .The best part of this was that they all came from different parts of the country and some even from abroad and it was quite interesting to know about their culture and their lifestyles. The first few things I wanted to know was about the sports and extra curricular activities which were carried out in college. I explored the outdoor stadium, swimming pool, basketball court and food court in a day or two. There were many clubs and seminars going on this college simultaneously with the academics. But after three days of my college joining theclasses started and then started a series of studies, thick books, busy schedule and tiredness. In a college you are not here to just study or just have fun, one needs to manage both for a successful college life. In the morning and afternoon ihave my classes and in the evening I go for playing basketball and after having my dinner I chat with my friends and even take out some time daily for my studies. In vit discipline is also maintained throughout the campus and even in the hostel and it is important too as to be successful in life one needs to be well disciplined in all activities. This was a short brief on the initiation of my college life in VIT hope it goes all well like this for four years.

COLLEGE LIFE The word college itself fills most of the people with cheer and thrill. Thinking that college life is only for fun, most of the students get distracted studies and take more interest in other activities. But the college life is very important for shaping the life of an individual. Though there should be enjoyment in life, but most of the students want to enjoy all the time without doing any effort or hard work. College life is also important in other terms like people of different culture and from different parts of nation become good friends and get to know each other’s culture. Moreover college life also plays a big role in transformation of a boy to a man. And the most important thing that college life helps some individuals to explore their dreams which may be becoming a good businessman or a great scientist !

College life, where do I begin. It is that part of your life which decides how you live the rest of your life. An experience which no one forgets and everyone cherishes. I still remember how it felt. The first week, exhilarating. With no parents around, you have full freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Initially you feel a little home sick. But then you make new friends who fill all your free time. You get to know what hostel life is like, with late night movies and midnight snacks. In college you meet people who share your ideas and views and also those who are completely opposite. There are many groups and organizations, where you can express. You are treated like an adult, unlike school, and are given responsibilities. The worked workload is also different, with more of projects, assignments and quizzes. All this is a preparation, so that you are ready to face the outside world and the rigors of life. The time you spend in college teaches you so much, its true value you only realize after college . . .

This was one of the many new things which awe struck me, well really different from school I must say. College began in a mysterious way, where time seemed to vanish and hardy giving me space to contemplate my new surroundings.

Fun, Friends, and Facebook . The 3 F’s that govern the life of today’s youth. The more the better. Craziness is now synonymous with college life. It is considered to be the best phase of life. It is the phase in which we bash the birthday boy instead of giving wishes, bunk classes instead of attending, spend the whole night chatting with friends, and best of all, hangout with friends a day before the exam instead of studying. Hostel life is an integral part of college life. After all it is the second home. After a month or two of hard work , when students come to college , they see people with different background, region and culture. To share the dining table and room requires the ability to adapt , the ability to develop an understanding between the roommates and of course common sense. These are the qualities they learn from their from their friends. During their stay in hostel, they develop various other qualities as well. The best part is that a college going student hardly use the word ‘Tension’. They use it only twice- before getting exam results and after getting dumped by his/her lover. Campus and hostel life , both helps in moulding our personality. The way we mould our life is in our hand. It depends on the company we indulge in. If it is good , then we will shoot up in life with flying colours, else our downfall will start from there. Fun and friends are the most cherishable part of students life. Without these two things, there is no ‘student life’ and as a matter of fact , there is no life. But, there is more to student life than fun and games. It is career oriented phase of life. So, a student has to strike a balance between various activities. Going to college is an exciting and wonderful time for any young adult. It is that experience that every one treasures.
