This source is about the Japanese team KUROSHIO that developed a system where autonomous underwater vehicles would scan their environments and use an autonomous surface vehicle as a portable harbor. They even had their entire system connected via satellite in case they needed to manually take control.

This source is about one of the American teams I looked into called GEBCO-NF Alumni Team. They developed an autonomous surface vehicle that could map at the surface level and deploy a large autonomous underwater vehicle for further mapping. They were able to do all of that and still make the robots act completely on their own, creating pre-made routes for the vehicles to follow before hand and then giving them the tech to adapt to their surroundings.

This source is one of the finalists from America known as the Blue Devil Ocean Engineering team. This team thought of a clever way to use air-based drones to drop sonar pods into the water that will sink to the bottom and then float back up to provider sonar-based data. While not as sophisticated or long-term as the others, it does show a much cheaper system that could be used closer to land.

The Computer Geek's History of the Internet was a very interesting assignment because it offered so many different events of the Internet's past for me to explore. One thing it helped me notice was how only a couple of the topics are talked about in mainstream news and it's a shame since a lot more of those stories deserve a lot more fame. I definitely see it as the best assignment from week 1 just because of how hard it was to pick a specific topic to submit originally.
This link was interesting for me because it helped explain a lot of terms related to quantum thinking that i had previously not understood. It also helped explain many different uses of quantum computing that I never knew it could be applied to. The assignment in question I also found interesting since it let me have free rein on exactly what I wanted to talk about.
Privacy and Freedom of Speech
This link was used to talk about public records and explains how a senator wanted 'preparation fees' for public record inquiries. Both the links that I submitted would be my favorites for week 2 because of how dystopian they sounded. This assignment in general was just very good to look into since it really opened my eyes to a lot I didn't know about happening today with our Privacy and Freedom.

This link is from the same assignment as the first one I chose and while I didn't think it was the best it was still definitely worth mentioning. I thought it was important because it talks about how Minnesota lawmakers want to censor the public libraries of the state. I believe every book is important since they are archaeological timestamps that show what the culture was like in an area at a certain time.

I chose this source because it talks about how Boston Dynamics has released one of their programs as an open source. Knowing how far their robots have gotten now, making the code open source would only help to evolve it at a faster pace.

This source I would have to say was my best for week 3 because it talks about something that affects me personally, Fair Use. Something like Fair Use laws aren't known by most people and therefore they don't understand the kind of impact they can have on content creators and individual's online social lives. It was also nice to be able to get an understanding into what exactly is Fair Use and what was troubling all the content creators, specifically on YouTube, that I hold dear.

I chose this source as my favorite for week 4 because it is a community that I am somewhat active in and it relates heavily to the topic of Crime. I also think it relates to the topic of Crime since the subreddit I linked to tends to get into a lot of mischief in the stock market. I also thought it was pretty funny to be able to share this group since it would have to be the strangest and impactful online community I've ever payed attention to.
This article I thought related to Crime in computers because it talks about how someone as rich and powerful as Jeff Bezos can still have his phone hacked into. It also showed me how little people in power care about cyber security, whether it be for their business or for personal protection.

This link was my favorite for week 5 because it a piece of entertainment that has the ability to educate people on mental health. I've also played and completed the game in the environment they recommend to play it in and it truly is capable of entertaining while properly teaching you what it's like to be in the shoes of someone who has schizophrenia.

Midterm - Grand Challenges

I chose Molly Cavaness's Mid-Term project because I think they went over two interesting pieces of technology that could definitely lead to advancements in all sorts of technology. Improving ways we are able to collect and store clean drinking water is one of the greatest challenges I think we will always face. This would have to be my favorite simply because the idea intrigues me the most.

I chose Abigail Proffitt's Mid-Term project because I think she put out good projects working to help improve the conditions of the Amazon Rain-Forest. Protecting this Forest is key as it helps support an ecological chain around the world.

Listening to this podcast I was able to see how some people view topics like the Uber strikes and I was honestly surprised at how little people care for contract workers. Given that the largest growing type of job is contract work, people should learn to question these things before it leads to a strange dystopian future.

I thought this video from John Oliver was my best link for week 7 and was important in teaching me exactly why automation was bad. It talks about how since nobody really enforces any kind of law to control automation, they have now become one of the main reasons for job loss worldwide.

This article goes over a nasty IT failure that occurred at Heathrow airport in England. It explains how this could've been avoided if more money was put into the IT department and cybersecurity in general.
This article talks about the risk of using online voting machines and how some that aren't supposed to be connected online still have ways that they can be. This kind of topic makes people question the reliability of their own government and if we really do live in a democracy.

This article I find to be the most important for week 8 because I personally use a VPN every now and then and I find that they are incredibly important for your online protection. Trying to ban VPNs would actually cause massive cybersecurity problems later in the future.

I think this article really matches the topic of the week because cloud gaming has become the new entry into the gaming market and it has shows signs of some true potential. I believe that if this is improved on then in the next decade it might be a rival for mobile gaming both in quality and in profit.
This link is the best for week 9 for me because it is an app I use all the time to let me know how to get to a location, how long, how much traffic there will be, and where I can park once I get there. For me, using this app truly gives me the sense of being able to go anywhere at anytime now.

This Ted Talk was very nice for me to watch since Jack Horner is a man that has inspired my childhood obsession of dinosaurs and animals. It is nice to know that I have access to discussions and podcasts like this one whenever I want since it is usually the easiest way for me to learn new things.

This article I picked because I started this class with an interest in quantum computing and I am ending it with asking how we can use it to improve everything in our lives. I think advances in quantum thinking in general will only lead to greater advances in tech, but could also lead to a bigger social divide.

This article I think is important because it shows how more and more schools in the US have access to the internet. This could gives kids access to more accessible and cheaper tools to help them learn in school. It also helps in times like we are living in now.
I think this article is my best for week 10 because I'm a firm believer that nuclear is apart of our future if we want to think in terms of clean thinking. With more focus on safer reactors, it's only the image that the term 'nuclear' has created that needs to be fixed now.
