Andreas Meiszner is an experienced international consultant, project manager and researcher focusing on education, innovation, and training. Prior to joining the United Nations University UNU-MERIT he has worked at SPI, Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (Portugal), as a consultant and technology expert, two fields he combines with his work in innovative education. His research and project experience are related to the fields of open education, open source software and their communities, open educational resources and web 2.0 applications. Since 2006, Andreas is also a PhD research fellow at the Institute of Educational Technology at the Open University (UK) where his research work and investigations focus on new open learning systems and the coupling of technology with education. Besides the world of academic research Andreas also worked in various business sectors and functions over the past 15 years, such as Vodafone Germany or the German Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Andreas holds three higher education degrees in management from universities in France, Germany and The Netherlands. Andreas is also the principle project adviser of the EU funded projects openSE project, which is developing an “open educational framework for computer science Software Engineering” as well as for the openEd 2.0 project, a FREE/OPEN course targeting business students and practitioners alike.
