I can italicise text by putting 2 apostrophes on each side.

If I use 3 apostrophes it will bold the text.

If I use 5 apostrophes it will both bold and italicize the text !!

I can upload an image and use the '|thumb|left' syntax to give it a border (on the left), or just the '|right' syntax (without '|thumb') to display in on the right without a border.

I can create an unordered list:

• I start every line with an asterisk.
  • More asterisks create nested levels,

    and the same number of asterisks followed by a colon enables the previous line to continue.

  • Then if I use a new line
• with no asterisks:

it marks the end of the list.

• I can then start again.

I can also create numbered lists:

1. I start each line with a hash symbol
   1. More hash symbols create nested levels (but not subnumbered, eg as 1.1),

      and the same number of hash symbols followed by a colon enables the previous line to continue

   2. Before the next numbered line
   3. And the next.

A new line with no hash symbol marks the end of the list.

1. Using a hash symbol again re-starts the numbering at 1.
