What you’ll learn:
- Learn about the United Nations
- Explore key organs of the UN system, such as the Security Council, General Assembly and Secretariat
- Analyse key UN documents, including the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and others
- Consider how the UN manages complex issues such as conflict, security, human rights and economic governance
- Learn about leading global governance institutions, such as the European Union, African Union and others
- Gain an understanding of how diplomacy works, the techniques involved, and what it might be like to be a diplomat
In this course you’ll develop your skills in:
- Critical analysis of source material, including multimedia sources, primary documents and polemical material, enabling you to analyse and synthesise material to develop a considered perspective.
- Applying analytical and problem-solving skills necessary for international studies, careers and global citizenship
- Building a sound understanding of key components of global society and key global challenges through insights and knowledge gained from multiple perspectives and disciplines
- Constructing analytical papers and presentations on complex international challenges
- Presenting complex information utilising your written and oral communication skills
