Do you have any concerns about the quality of educational resources developed using an open authoring approach? If so, what are your concerns? If not, how does an open authoring approach contribute to high quality learning materials?

Well I don’t have any concerns about the quality of educational resources developed using an open authoring approach because this a great opportunity in which we can belong in a teachers’ community of practice, whose emergence is made easier by Internet, and which allows new possibilities of sharing and reuse the materials.

In your opinion, should closed or open authoring approaches be used in the development of learning resources for use in education? Give reasons for your view?

In my opinion the development of learning resources should open authoring approaches because it gives the opportunity that almost everybody has the resources for use in education besides this consists of a suite of software tools that perform a number of functions supporting the production of learning resources.

What mechanisms can be adopted to assure quality of educational content developed in wiki environments?

Wikis create a situation where learners are not writing to communicate with their teacher like in a traditional learning environment but students are rather writing to communicate with their peers. This environment teaches learners, the art of constructive criticism and they become less reliant on the teacher for feedback and guidance. Students and learners who use wikis feel more responsible for their content they publish. This then creates a sense of collective ownership thorough their contribution, to the class. While at the same time a greater sense of knowledge sharing is achieved a community is developed, improving communication among the users of the wiki.

No, I´m not concerned about the quality of these resources. It is important to know and learn about other educators around the world. I aslo think it is important to share experiences and questions related to Teaching.

It is always good to be updated and know what's new out there. I´m really loking forward to learning more about wikis.
