What are your thoughts on quality and open authoring?

I am really looking forward to learning about and using wikis. I am not very good at this kind of means but I am a quick learner and I know it is not going to be a great deal for me, at least I hope so. I consider that in this changing world we need to be more and more involved with technology, so by using wikis we can get our students' attention by providing updated information. I believe that Open Authoring Approaches are a great source of information not only for teachers but for students as well because we can have reliable and updated from fist hand, I mean based on the experience and the opinion of other people that are in the education area or at least related to it. Some of the advantages that come into my mind are: we can edit and we can also share besides experience, knowledge, that certainly will provide us better tools in order to improve our teaching.
