Using Hotpotatoes on Wiki Educator
Fragment of a discussion from Talk:Wikieducator tutorial/Communication and Interaction/Discussion
No -- we can't upload hotpotatoes quiz's on wiki educator pages because this is non-free / proprietary software which does not meet the requirements of the free cultural works definition. Sorry about that -- but we do not determine the licenses of external services. If they used free software and free content licenses there would be no problem to include these in WikiEducator.

Hi Mackiwg, I see the above answer was posted a year ago. I wonder if things re Hot Potatoes have not changed since then? I have the impression that HP is now free.--Mary Di Mónaco 03:06, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

WikiEducator does have some alternatives for quizes installed.
- User:JimTittsler/Sandbox/Quiz demonstrates a couple of templates that turn wikitext into multiple choice questions and cloze exercises respectively. It is a very easy way to insert some interactivity with little typing.
- the Quiz Extension provides for inserting much more elaborate quizes within WikiEducator pages
