Thoughts about microblog activity
Based on our experiences, using microblog activities is a great way to promote and support engagement in the course.
It may be useful to skim through the Q&A resource on Ask.OERu we've set up to help students with queries relating to microblogs for OERu courses -- in case you want to link to this in the microblog activities.
Remember that posters are limited to 140 characters -- so keep this in mind when designing the questions for microblog posts. Personal introductions may be a tad hard to fit into the limit ;-). Perhaps better to set an into forum in the LMS version of the course or ask students to post intro's in their blog?
