Thought about opening vision statement

Jump to: navigation, search

The WOLA initiative is progressing very well. My compliments to the team of volunteers.

A minor aspect to think about -- the opening vision statement Enabling environment for online open learning is an inspiring mission.

A minor thought -- we are an open education project committed to OERs which is a point of difference when compared to closed approaches. It is possible to create an enabling environment for online "open access" learning without OERs.

Should we refine the mission statement as follow?

"Enabling environment for open education"

I removed online because I'm not sure we want to exclude learners who may not have affordable connectivity (eg we can integrate the wiki ==> print technologies so as not to exclude.)

Just a few thoughts for the workgroup to think about.

Dear Dr. Wayne,

Thank you for the very pertinent suggestions. I think your suggestion "Enabling environment for open education" is the right choice. Warm regards Anil Prasad 04:52, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
