Living area
The living area is for the use of the labouring woman, her family and supporters. It is important that the labouring woman can choose to labour in a variety of locations, using the distractions, furniture and other props available in the different rooms as she feels necessary. This is a domestic space that will be familiar and comforting to the woman and her supporters. Childbirth can be a long and intense process and it is also important that children, family members and supporters can entertain, nourish and refresh themselves as necessary. Supporters also need a comfortable place to spend time when the labouring woman requires privacy or sleep.
