Open Teacher Appraisal

Fundamental to open teacher appraisal is the belief that open colleagueships is the paramount way in which a school should be run.

Aim

Open teacher appraisal involves the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the teachers provide education and services that fully meet the needs of their students and school communities.

Open teacher appraisal systems provide a systematic approach to personal goal setting and link school objectives to the performance of each individual teacher.

Rationale

Open education refers to forms of education in which knowledge, ideas or important aspects of teaching methodology or infrastructure are shared freely.

Open education represents a major social innovation, with potential that extends well beyond the realm of teaching.
