A compelling vision
Hi White Eagle,
Thanks for your work on a WikiEducator vision for Secondary Education. Wow - this is both comprehensive and compelling. I can't wait to start on helping with the realisation of this vision!
I added a bullet extending the freedoms to include the rights to use, modify and adapt the resources. I think the freedoms associated with OERs go further than just "no cost".
I should also mention a WikiEducator project that will enable users to convert user selected WikiEducator resources into a pdf file on demand. This will enable teachers in the developing world to produce classroom handouts and lessons in print format especially for pupils who don't have access to computers or the Internet. This will be a great help to the millions of learners who don't have access to textbooks. I think we should try and work this into the vision as well. What do you think?
Is there anyone who can convert this article into wiki syntax (rather than html)? - There may be members of the WikiEducator Community who are not well versed with html syntax - and I would not want to exclude them from participating in the vision document. (I'd do this myself - but will be hopping onto a plane pretty soon making my way back from India to Vancouver.)
Chat to you soon. --Mackiwg 06:58, 10 March 2007 (CET)
Thank you,Mackiwg, for your in my eagle ears enthusiastic sounding resonance. Please feel free to continue modifying the text as you like. This is the first experience of collaborative authoring to me and I’m curious what will come out at the end! I myself think this is by far not the final version but only a beginning.
