re: 1.3.2 Besides text, the system facilitates upload of various file formats, e.g., images, PowerPoints, short videos, etc., that will be displayed in the articles
Just for clarity my interpretation of this point is that we would want the uploaded content to be viewable within the article rather than just linked from it, available to be downloaded and viewed offline. --Andrew 03:32, 15 June 2006 (CEST)
Yes, it should be visible, but this could depend on the format, size, etc. For example, images should be visible; PPTs, videos, etc., could be linked to.
re: 1.4.1 Anyone can search and view articles (multilingual keyword search might be interesting, based on the FAO AGROVOC, languages: English, Spanish, French)
My interpretation for this point is that there is one search form where users can enter keywords in any language. I'm not sure if I'm correct though. The other possibility is that the user enters a keyword and language preference, and only the articles in the selected language are returned in the search? --Andrew 03:32, 15 June 2006 (CEST)
The first one. I was wondering if we could use the AGROVOC and, by assigning keywords, a keyword search in any of the supported languages would then produce the relevant article in it's original language. We would have to look into the conditions of use of the FAO AGROVOC.
re: 1.4.3 Users can export and customize content for use in teaching, etc.
Would integration with LMS's provide the required functionality? Or would there be a need for output to other data formats? --Andrew 03:33, 15 June 2006 (CEST)
It would be important that formats for offline use can be produced. Do (some) LMSs provide that functionality? Or do we need another "bridge" to do that?
I'm not very familiar with LMS's but I'm pretty sure they have this functionality. I think Wayne will have some background knowledge on this topic also.--Andrew 05:42, 15 June 2006 (CEST)
