I really like the discussion we had on our course focused on commons. It think it provides a nice introduction to the "rise" of OER, and also does a particularly good job of explaning how even immaterial things like software depend on issues that are related to "material" commons. This helps contextualize people's conditions to create and share. I can use an open license but I might not have access to the computers (rival goods) to create them. This is an especially neat way to bring the "digital divide" discussion into OER without much effort, as the notion of commons is germane to OER.
A video that works nicely is this one which has a BY-SA license and is translate into spanish and english and could be easily adapted see all video languages here.
