Suggestions for improving the "Having the right people" page | 0 | 20:11, 14 June 2016 |
Strapping together three TED talk videos as a single activity is not good enough ;-). What was the teaching rationale for selecting these videos? Use this rational to beef up the introductory text.
Each video needs:
- A little more scaffolding and support for the learners - Give some indication of why should they watch the video and they are expected to learn.
- P2P learner support is a significant component of an open online courses. I would suggest embedding a WEnotes prompt for each video inviting learners to share something appropriate. For example, what was the most important message for you? or any other prompt that encourages learners to engage and share.
Taking into account that we should optimise the experience for mobile devices - I suggest that the "Having the right people in the room" page is broken down into four subpages:
- Having the right people page - One or two paragraphs introducing the sequence of videos and why they're important
- Separate page for Paris climate video
- Separate page for New Power video
- Separate page for the Nicholas stern video.
I suggest that the learning journal activity is reformatted into the learning challenge for this pathway. Learners who are using open course blogs will add tremendous value to the P2P learning experience by sharing their thoughts. Note a warning must be included to ensure anonymity if we use an open blog.
