Established in 1972, Thomas Edison State College has a national reputation in the United States for academic excellence and educational integrity and is a national leader in the assessment of adult learning.The College has recently joined the OER university network thus continuing its leadership role in widening access to educational opportunities for adult learners becoming the third institution from the United States to join this open education initiative.
Thomas Edison State College provides flexible, high-quality, collegiate learning opportunities for self-directed adults and offers degree programs and certificates in more than 100 areas of study.

The College is a pioneer in using the latest technology to deliver methods of learning and earning credit learning for busy adults, which include online courses, prior learning assessment, credit-bearing exams and courses accessed via mobile devices.
