The College is one of New Jersey's 12 senior public institutions of higher education and one of the first schools in the country designed specifically for adult learners.

Thomas Edison State College provides flexible, high-quality, collegiate learning opportunities for self-directed adults and offers degree programs and certificates in more than 100 areas of study.

The mission of Thomas Edison State College to provide high-quality learning opportunities for self-directed adults is well aligned with the philanthropic objectives of our OERu international collaboration. We are thrilled to have an experienced, flexible learning pioneer like Thomas Edison State College joining our open education partnership.

The College is a pioneer in using the latest technology to deliver methods of learning and earning credit learning for busy adults, which include online courses, prior learning assessment, credit-bearing exams and courses accessed via mobile devices.

As we see it, the aims of the OERu are ideally suited to our own: providing opportunities for students to achieve their educational goals through the most affordable, flexible, and accessible means possible. Thomas Edison State College has long striven to help students achieve degrees and other credentials based on what they have learned, not on where they have learned it. Providing open access to learning opportunities through OERu helps us achieve our mission.
