I hope this Unit gave you useful insights on assessment. There is surely much more to assessment than what we have covered here. In open schooling, assessment for learning is very important as it gives both the facilitator and the learner insights on the latter’s progress. It enables corrective measures to be taken in time to achieve defined learning outcomes.

Assessment as Learner Support Assignment

Now that you have read through an example of an authentic assignment task and you have analysed it, choose a topic or concept in your subject area and design an authentic assignment task for your learners. Remember that authentic assessment usually includes a task for learners to perform and a rubric by which their performance on the task will be evaluated. You are free to improve your authentic assignment task based on your analysis of the example you reviewed.

  1. Required: Evaluate your task against the Blooms matrix in Table 5
  2. Upload your task in Moodle.
