Overarching Principles of Management
Before you complete the reading below, consider the following questions:
- What is the difference between efficiency and effectiveness?
- How does a manager make a group of people more effective and efficient?
In the last section, you learned that the overarching principles of management involve four critical functions which helps to outline the ideal job of a manager: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling (POLC). For more information about the POLC framework, read Section 1.4 of Chapter 1 from the Principles of Management book available from Saylor Academy.
