Outreach

Dr. Ballegu has participated in a number of outreach activities. He has also participated in the preparation of a number of dissemination materials in Swahili language. These dissemination materials target farmers, extension officers and other stakeholders.

In 2003, he co-authored a leaflet titled “Usindikaji rahisi wa muhogo: Njia ya kuongeza uhakika wa chakula na pato la kaya.” This was a leaflet for farmers on simple cassava processing techniques. In the same year, he co-authored another leaflet titled “Utunzaji rahisi wa viazi vitamu kwa ongezeko la uhakika wa chakula na pato la kaya.” This was a leaflet for farmers on simple sweet potato storage techniques.

In 2004, he took part in the preparation of a Chapter titled “Muhogo na viazi vitamu kwa biashara". A chapter in a monograph named “Usambazaji wa Teknolojia, Juzuu namba 3: “USINDIKAJI, MASOKO na MATUMIZI ya MAZAO ya KILIMO” A monograph targeting extension officers, at various levels, in cassava and sweet potato growing areas. In the same year, he was one of the authors of a booklet named “Usindikaji na matumizi ya muhogo: Muhogo ni chakula; muhogo ni pesa.” This was a booklet targeting extension officers at various levels and farmers in cassava growing areas.

In 2005, he co-authored a booklet titled “Soya kwa Lishe Bora – Virutubishi na Matayarisho yake kwa Mapishi Mbali Mbali.” This was a booklet for farmers and extension officers on the importance of soybeans and preparation of various soy-based food products.

In 2007, he co-authored a teaching manual titled “Soya na Kilimo, Usindikaji, Matumizi na Masoko yake”. This was a bound training manual on production, processing, utilization and marketing of soybeans. The manual targeted farmers, extension officers and other end-users of soybean. See attached CV
