The Internet provides unique opportunities to open education as embodied by the concepts and corresponding practices of: open educational resources (OER); open educational practices (OEP); open learning; open access, open policy, open source and open licensing.

This course will explore the practice of open education supported by enabling legal frameworks like Creative Commons in providing unprecedented opportunities to open access to learning for all students worldwide. Participants will gain first hand experience in the design and development of open education materials including the digital literacy and technology enablers for developing open learning materials.

This Open Education Practice course is run in conjunction with the online professional development workshops offered by the OER Foundation including Open Content Licensing for Educators and the Learning4Content wiki skills workshop. The Open Education Practice course will offer formal certification options for participants in these professional development workshops.
