Unitec Institute of Technology is a teaching-led, research-informed institution, passionate about the transformative power of education. Our aspiration is to be a world-class, world-scale institute of technology that is an agent of economic, social and environmental change.

Guided by the principles of Te Noho Kotahitanga, Unitec Institute of Technology educates people for work, in work and through work with a comprehensive portfolio of programmes extending from certificates and diplomas through to degrees and doctorates, across a wide range of professional and vocational areas.

Over 23,000 students from more than 80 countries choose to study at Unitec's three campuses. We welcome learners from all educational backgrounds and age groups, providing opportunities for them to progress from one level of qualification to the next.

The diverse cultural and ethnic mix on campus includes school leavers, professionals studying to further their careers, international students, people training for jobs in industry and the trades, second-chance and adult students undertaking tertiary education for the first time, graduates returning to gain postgraduate qualifications, and people looking for a change of career.

The cornerstone of our approach to teaching and learning is the Living Curriculum, which promotes curriculum as conversation and conceives of programmes holistically rather than as collections of courses. The goal is to nurture graduates who are resilient, independent and creative and who are able to thrive in complex conditions.

Involvement with OERu is an opportunity to assist in providing quality and fair education on a global scale and to contribute to what could be life-changing journeys for many people.
