PUPILS SHOULD KNOW


Pupils are familiar with group work and usually perform group tasks willingly and co-operatively. They are also competent at preparing and reporting on class investigations. They can interpret and draw data from tables. They are aware that there are different brands of tissue paper and that different brands of the same product can vary in quality. Pupils have also conducted fair tests in order to solve problems.

  2. Conduct planned investigationsm using materials provided to gather data on relative strengths of tissue paper
  3. relate the results of a test conducted to compare the relative strengths og wet tissue paper to which is the best brand to buy.


CONCEPT Different brands of tissue paper have different strength when wet. Comparing the strengths of wet tissue paper can tell us which is the best brand to buy.

INTRODUCTION


Teacher tells class of a situation where two people are having a conversation about the brand of tissue paper they use to wipe up spills in the kitchen. Person I complains of Brand A and B insisting that they crumble when wet and do notdo a good job, while person 2 debates this and says that he/she prefers brands A abnd B to brands C and D, because it is Brand C and D that are the weakest when wet, and do not do a good job at wiping up spills.
