Title: Introduction to Equations
Why: Equations give us a model to describe real-world situations. For example, what of you ran a company that made oak tables and chairs. You know that the tables cost you $40 to produce and the chairs cost you $30. You have $10000 availble for the project. But, these products took different amounts of wood (the chair actually needing more) and you are limited by the available wood in your warehouse. How many chairs and how many tables should you produce, given tables will sell for $100 and each chair will sell for $80? Your only hope to find an optimal solution is to use equations.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learners will read text about introduction to equations.
2. Learners will write numerical and non-numerical equations.
Success Criteria: After completion of this module, learners will be able to:
1. Explain the function of the equal sign in an equation.
2. Represent a real-life situation with an equation.
