Definition

Derivative If [math]y=f(x)[/math] is is a function of x then rate of change of [math]y[/math] with respect to [math]x[/math] is called the derivative of [math]y[/math] with respect to [math]x[/math], denoted by [math]dy/dx[/math]

Examples

[math]y=2x+5, dy/dx=2[/math]
[math]y=x^2+4x+5, dy/dx=2x+4[/math]
