Zoom out
Camera technique whereby the camera remains stationary but the lens is adjusted to make it seem like the subject is moving further away from the viewer. (visual) |
Examples
The shot to the right shows the camera zooming out from a shot of a tree fern. This allows the audience to see more of the surrounding landscape, like taking a step back.
Typical effects
- Makes the subject appear to increase in size.
- Makes the viewer feel like they are moving closer to the subject.
- Reveals more of the context (surrounding information).
