The language technique of listing means that the author makes a list of items and includes them in the text. This is used to show the reader that the writer knows their subject and is able to inform. It is also used to persuade the reader of the writer's point of view by showing their knowledge (and therefore superiority), they are persuading the writer of the strength of their argument.
