Introduction
Welcome to Lesson 1 on the characteristics of learners. On of the greatest mistakes we make in distance education is that we plan programmes without taking into account the characteristics and needs of learners. As a result a result our learner support systems are quite often not responsive to the needs and circumstances of learners.
