Twitter does not enforce a "real name" policy, so it is possible for a person to run multiple accounts. A twitter account could be a bot, parody account or fake account. In this section we review the basics of Twitter identity and complete a short activity to verify the identity of a Twitter account.
Verifying twitter identity
In the past, Twitter utilised an account verification system, whereby accounts of public interest where verified as being authentic, and inserting the blue verified badge on the account holder's profile. This system has been put on hold. As a social media user, its important to know that not all Twitter accounts are authentic and there are a large number of parody and bot accounts.
