Dear LiDA101 participants
Welcome to Session 1: Introduction to digital literacies.
These instructions are for: Independent study (recommend 3 days).
If you have just joined us, you will find instructions on the course site for the introductory preparatory session, which provides advice on what you need to do before you start studying.
Recap
We hope that you found the introductory instructions useful for setting up your course blog.
By now you should have:
- familiarised yourself with the layout of the course site
- reviewed the course guide
- "declared yourself" on your course blog (and linked your blog URL with your account on this course website) and tested the posting of a comment using WENotes, which are harvested for the course feed
- completed the optional new OERu participant survey.
This session: Introduction to digital literacies
In this session, you will define what digital literacies mean for you and familiarise yourself with how to use Hypothes.is for online annotation and how to use social media as a back channel. You will also complete your first resource bank activity. The code you need to register your account on bookmarks is: "oer4all" (all lowercase without quotation marks).
To get started: first, work your way through the learning materials; and then complete the activities.
Need help?
For general support on using OERu technologies, please consult the support site and guidelines for getting help.
If you need course specific help, post your questions on the LiDA101 general forum. Remember to include the url of the page where you are having problems.
Let's leverage the power of peer-learning by helping each other. If you know the answer to a question in the forum, please share your knowledge by posting a response to assist others.
Bear in mind that as an international course, academic volunteers helping out on the course may be in a different time zone and could be sleeping when you post a question.
We hope you enjoy your digital learning experience and make the most of this opportunity to help you achieve your goals.
