Key Points

  • To prepare a teaching philosophy, you need an understanding of how your students learn and your teaching preferences as well as an awareness of your professional beliefs, assumptions and values. Reflection about your practice is an important place to start.
  • A teaching philosophy is a personal statement describing your approach to teaching and why you do what you do. It includes your preferred strategies for teaching and supporting learning, and reflection about your professional practice as well as your future aspirations for growing as a teacher.

This is the final topic of Module 5.
