    1. Do you have any concerns about the quality of educational resources developed using an open authoring approach? If so, what are your concerns? If not, how does an open authoring approach contribute to high quality learning materials?

I donot have concerns directly, besides the issue of time raised by Gabriel. I actually think that opne nauthoring contributes to the production of high quality learning materials because of the high level of interaction with the wiki community.

  1. In your opinion, should closed or open authoring approaches be used in the development of learning resources for use in education? Give reasons for your view?

I think so yes. These approaches should actually involved learners, so that they are leatner centred and take into account feedback from the learns themselves. Additionally there is noone with a monopoly of knowledge, sharing in an open forum always brings in new ideas and concepts.

  1. What mechanisms can be adopted to assure quality of educational content developed in wiki environments?

I think quality can be ensure by accepting feedback, allowing content gurus to scrutinise and give feedback.

  • Do you have any concerns about the quality of educational resources developed using an open authoring approach? If so, what are your concerns? If not, how does an open authoring approach contribute to high quality learning materials?

My concern is about how Wiki ensures the authenticity of educational resources developed using an open authoring approach; I would like to know what method is used to ensure quality, considering the large volumes of contributions that may be available. However, I think the open authoring approach, contributes to high quality materials, because there are a variety of people with varied experiences and knowledge contributing than with the closed authoring approach.

  • In your opinion, should closed or open authoring approaches be used in the development of learning resources for use in education? Give reasons for your view?

In my own opinion the open authoring approach should be used in the development of learning resources for use in education, because every human being has something to contribute to the learning process. However, the closed authoring approach may be useful at some point, to ensure quality control.

  • What mechanisms can be adopted to assure quality of educational content developed in wiki environments?

I also think a team of volunteer experts and researchers in various fields can be constituted by wiki to serve as a sort of quality control board at some stage in the development process using the open authoring approach.

  • Do you have any concerns about the quality of educational resources developed using an open authoring approach? If so, what are your concerns? If not, how does an open authoring approach contribute to high quality learning materials?

I want to know if there has been any empirical evidence of a situation where the quality of educational resource through an open approach was misinforming readers.

  • In your opinion, should closed or open authoring approaches be used in the development of learning resources for use in education? Give reasons for your view?

Personally, I do not see anything wrong with closed or open authoring approaches since sharing knowledge is vital to individual, national and global development. Again, closed or open authoring approaches make room for contributions from content experts and also gives the opportunity for culture diversity.

  • What mechanisms can be adopted to assure quality of educational content developed in wiki environments?

I believe that stuff and content can go through peer review. --Kafuiaheto 22:32, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Once you have laid out your thoughts here, you are invited to join the attempt to synthesize the various perspectives into one coherent document.

This can be looked at from two perspectives; when a resource is developed by open authoring, it can be of high quality if all the contributors are well informed about the subject matter and that all their arguments are backed by data and facts. On the contrary, if the authors submit misleading information and fallacious arguments, of course a big blow will be dealt on the quality of information. Open authoring can contribute to high quality learning resources if the wiki community is active enough to scruitinise the accuracy of information and correct any deviations well before the damage is done

  • In your opinion, should closed or open authoring approaches be used in the development of learning resources for use in education? Give reasons for your view?

I think open authoring is the way to go. This approach creates a pool of reasoning and arguments to enrich a discussion and bring out new information from all corners of the globe

  • What mechanisms can be adopted to assure quality of educational content developed in wiki environments?

An active wiki community that is always in the background ensuring that only accurate information is exchanged. All authors should be open to positive criticism and ready to back their positions with facts and data

In general, I think that the quality of open authoring hinges on the quality and consistency of review by fellow wiki neighbours or users that are part of that open authoring community. The integrity of any information shared must be tested by different viewpoints and/or verifications and validations especially in the form of citations/references.
