REPORT ON THE L4C WORKSHOP

The Learning4Content (L4C) workshop was organized by Wawasan Open University (WOU) and funded by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL). The workshop was held at WOU on 25th – 26th February 2009 (workshop 1) and 26th – 27th February 2009 (workshop 2). These workshops were inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of WOU, Tan Sri Dato’ Gajaraj Dhanarajan.
The one-and-a-half day L4C workshop held at WOU was in support of WikiEducator’s L4C initiative and aimed at building capacity in Malaysia in the area of Open Education Resources (OERs). Twenty-two senior academic from institution of higher learning and senior management from the corporate sector registered for each of the workshops. Nineteen participants were present in the workshop 1.
The participants of the workshop included academics from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Disted-Stamford College, AIMST University, KDU College, Penang Skills Development Centre, Equator Academy of Art, Han Chiang College, FRIS Engineering Institute, MAICSA, The International School of Penang and WOU, as well as management personnel from a few multinational companies such as AMD Export Sdn Bhd, Motorola, SQEM Consultants and Advisors, etc.
During the workshop, the participants were given a hands-on training on how to create an account in WikiEducator and publish content pages. In the workshop, the participants were very active and all of them created their pages. Some of them also created small useful projects using basic Wikiskills learnt during the workshop. The participants were so interactive and lively through out the workshop. Dr Sanjay also encouraged them to creat the Malaysian Counrty page.
The Workshop was formally closed by Prof Wong Tat Meng, DVC of WOU with a vote of thanks to all the participants and facilitator.
