Day One: January 9, 2009
Two parallel L4C Workshop were formally inaugurated at Acharya Narendra Dev College, a college which has become synonymous with innovations in teaching and learning. The inaugration ceremony was presided by Dr. Savithri Singh, Principal Acharya Narendra Dev College. The key note address was delivered by Dr. Dinesh Abrol, Scientist F, NISTADS, CSIR. His address dwelt on the issue of copyrights in educational materials with specific focus on FOSS and open licences such as Creative Commons-Share Alike, GNU, Copyleft. Dr. Savithri Singh then went on to present an overview of WikiEducator. For the afternoon session the group split into two and went to the two computer labs that were conducted by Dr. Neeti Mishra and Dr. Sarita Kumar who introduced the participants in the respective groups to the working of WikiEducator. These sessions were hands-on, at the end of which all participants were successfull in making their user pages and became part of the growing community of wikieducators.
The two parallel L4C workshops have thirty four participants.
Day Two: January 10, 2009
Second day of the workshop started with lecture by Dr. Savithri Singh and Dr. Neeti Misra. They introduced the participants to uploading of media files and video through Kaltura. Participants got hands-on experience of uploading of media on the WikiEducator. Mr. Niyam Bhushan, renowned Graphics Designer and propagator of Free and Open Source Software, delivered a talk on 'From a Golden Cage to a Golden Age: How to author free education with freedom'. His talk was very interesting and enlightening for the all participants. Then, participants were taught how to access history, use of the revert back and talk feature etc. on the Wiki tool bars by Dr. Savithri Singh and Dr. Sarita Kumar. the partiucipants then practiced what they learnt.
Day Three: January 12, 2009
Dr. Sarita Kumar and Neeti Misra introduced the participants to use of pedagogical templates, while Mr. Subhash Kumar and Dr Arijit Chowdhuri conducted a session on typesetting using LATEX Participants found all the LATEX functions very interesting and practiced the syntaxes in the afternoon session through hands-on training. Since there were several mathematics teachers among the participants this session was highly appreciated. There was a request that the session be longer and more detailed.
Day Four: January 13, 2009
Last day of the workshop began with the Question and Answers Session. Dr. Savithri Singh and Dr. Neeti Misra answered the queries raised by the participants. Thereafter the participants were introduced to Kaltura. Dr. Arijit Chowdhuri and Dr. Sarita Kumar delivered lecture on Kaltura and its various functions. In the afternoon, the Valedictory Session was chaired by Dr. R. Sreedher, Director, Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA). Feedback from the participants was invited and each participant disclosed his/ her experience of the three days WE workshop. Participants were very enthusiastic as all of them desired to have more of such workshops in their colleges.
