Completing the challenge
- Read Section 10.4 Conflict Management in Organizational Behavior available from Saylor Academy.
- Make notes about the different ways suggested to manage conflict.
- Consider the different conflict-handling styles.
- Reflect on the need to embrace conflict in certain situations and to attain certain goals.
- Prepare a blog post of approximately 500 - 600 words where you use your reflection from the previous section to answer the following questions:
- Give an example of a conflict you are personally aware of (please do not divulge names and other identifying information in order to respect privacy of individuals and organisations). Alternatively search for "examples of conflicts in the work place" and share a suitable example.
- Was the conflict resolved in one of the ways described in the reading? If you shared a conflict you read about on the internet, recommend an appropriate resolution approach to the conflict identified.
- What is your dominant conflict-handling style? List the advantages and disadvantages of that style in the context of your shared example.
- Based on your experience, how can conflict be positive?
