Introduction

This project will explore guidelines for good design informed strongly by research and study into design principles. A tool will be developed that will consider visual design, instructional design and universal principles of design, as well as accessibility to assist in the development of learning resources. The project will then explore heuristic evaluation as a way of evaluating learning resources for effective design.

Visual Design

This Wikipedia page explores some very valuable Design elements and principles.  This very valuable quote is shared on the page:

William Lidwell famous admonition (forewarning) roughly stated in Universal Principles of Design: "The best designers sometimes disregard the principles of design. When they do so, however, there is usually some compensating merit attained at the cost of the violation. Unless you are certain of doing as well, it is best to abide by the principles."  [1]

Instructional Design

This page on Wikipedia explores Instructional design and may instructional models.  It will also help inform the tool created to assist in developing well-designed learning resources.
