*Tuition and materials include the cost of the tuition, resource and learning packs, as well as lunch during workshop days. The costs indicated here do not include costs of airfares/transport to and from Zambia, and travel documents and visa fees if applicable.
~Figures for Board and Incidentals are estimates only. If paid to the programme account, it will be refunded at the start of the workshop in Zambian Kwacha equivalent. You can calculate the prevailing exchange rates using the Currency Converter
Getting Financial Support
The CYP Regional Centre for Africa (CYPRCA) and the ILO Lusaka Office for Zambia will offer partial bursaries to some participants upon application. Bursaries may cover only (A) tuition and materials and/or (B) Lodging. Bursaries will NOT cover allowance. Bursary recipients/organizations are expected to cater for their own travel to and from Zambia, dinner, and local upkeep (C). Bursary applicants should indicate their request for a bursary and fill the motivation page on the nomination form and submit to ipyet@cypafrica.org.zm
Deadline for applications for bursaries is 26th November 2010. Successful applicants will be notified by 30 November 2010.
Other Funding Opportunities
Participants to our training programmes are predominantly funded by themselves, their employer(s) (Ministries, municipalities, companies, youth development agencies, NGOs and training or research institutes) or by a donor or development agency. If you are looking for additional funding opportunities, there are a few organizations you could approach. Often they do not specifically present options for individual short term grant seekers on their general websites, but all organisations listed below have been known to facilitate in the funding of training for government and CSO professionals at one time or another. Please note that we do not have any agreements with these organisations obliging them to support you. Very often their interest in providing funds depends highly on their current programs in a particular country. Therefore we advice you to contact the regional/country offices of these organisations to discuss possibilities for financial support:
United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
Select your nation's Country Office from the U.N. Development Program website (http://www.undp.org/countries/) for contact information for your country's UNDP mission officer(s). Our training program is typically considered to fall within the UNDP's program area for "Poverty Reduction" or "Capacity Development" depending on how you structure your application to them.
Open society Institute - SOROS foundation
On the general SOROS website (www.soros.org) you can look up their activities in your region, sub-region, or county. It is best then to contact the Soros foundation Liasion for your region, whose contact information can be found here.
US Agency for International Development (USAID)
The U.S. State Department provides a list of Key Officers of Foreign Service Posts Telephone directory as PDF, 416 Kb. Please contact the USAID officer (indicated by the code AID) at your nearest U.S. Embassy. If your nearest post does not have a USAID officer, you may contact the Economic Officer (indicated by the code ECO) to direct you to the non-resident USAID officer responsible for your country.
World Bank
You may contact your country's local World Bank office for information whether existing World Bank projects in your country are able to provide funding for the training course. African Development Bank (ADB) You may contact your country's local African development Bank office for information whether existing ADB projects in your country are able to provide funding for the training course. You can find their contact information here.
Asian Development Bank
Especially if you are from the Asia region, you may want to select your nation's Resident Mission from the Asian Development Bank (www.adb.org) web site for contact information for your country's (resident) mission office.
Ford Foundation
You may contact your country's regional Ford Foundations office for information whether they are able to provide funding for the IPYET training programme. You may be able to apply to them as an organisation or as an individual. Our training program is typically considered to fall within the Ford Foundation work field for "Economic Fairness". You can alternatively search their huge grants database here or their generally listed links to other grant resources.
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
Especially if you are from Europe, you may want to consider linking to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (www.ebrd.com) and select your country for contact information for your EBRD country office.
Nuffic
Is the Netherlands Organisation for international cooperation in higher education. If you belong to a training institution (especially a higher education institute) you may be eligible for assistance (www.nuffic.nl).
