In this section, we introduce the main phases of a project. Every project has a beginning, middle phase, and conclusion. Standard projects normally have four major phases:

Initiation -> Planning -> Implementation -> Closure

  1. Read Chapter 3 in the prescribed textbook (Web | PDF), (pages 20 - 22 in the PDF version).
    • Pay particular attention to the activities associated with each phase.
    • Note that the large multinational case example illustrates how the phases are implemented in a complex project; however, the phases are also applied to smaller projects.
    • We suggest that you highlight or underline important concepts and relationships - this will help you in preparing for the mind map challenge.
