Taxonomies of data abound especially with the ever increasing popularity of internet technologies ( new media forms). Directories like and ODP make good use of these technologies which is important to the information seeker (knowing where to get what). traditional modes of data archiving used techniques such as indexing, cataloguing and bookmarking among others. new media automates these techniques, thus eliminating long time frames in the retrieval of information. searchability is also of utmost primacy. data boundaries should be well defined. the proliferation of search engines and the increasing tendency of these engines becoming binary in nature means that the proper dissimulation of data is perhaps mandatory. for example, and, both meta-search engines accept and prefer data in boolean format. “metadata is information about information. it can have facets i.e. attributes in various orthogonal sets of categories. e.g. Recipe: cuisine, main ingredients, cooking style, holiday…” (credit, parametric searches require a lot of knowledge on the side of the information seeker. hence the concept of dynamic taxonomies, allowing the recognition of organisation and vocabulary of data.
