Indigenous art/ART 103/Tasks
First Nations artists have been going to the land and their natural surroundings `for their material to make art for hundreds of years. Your task in this Indigenous Art learning challenge is to complete an internet search for three separate images depicting any three of the following forms of First Nations art:
- cedar roots for baskets
- bone for making sculpture
- sheep wool for making blankets
- cedar for making masks
- shells for making necklaces
Compile a collection of your images (make sure you include the source of each image) and include a short statement saying why each chosen image appeals to you.
In addition to the three images of First Nations art, include two more images of other Indigenous art forms from your country or any country outside of Canada. Again, include a short statement saying why each chosen image appeals to you.
Save your five images in a shareable location and, in the course topic discussion forum, let your fellow learners know where to find them.
At the end of your discussion post, include a short comment about what can be done to promote Indigenous art in schools and in the art world.
